The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana (CCI - Tirana) was founded in 1926 upon the initiative of a group of private industrialists of that time. After a long interruption in 40s and 50s, it resumed its activity in 1958, now with the status of a state institution which operated in the conditions of centralized economy based on the state property. The turn of the country towards democracy at the beginning of the 90s brought about radical changes also to the functioning of the Chamber. It was reorganized conformed to the Law 96404, dated 09.11.2006, “On the Chambers of Commerce and Industry” in the way to be adopted to the new social-economic conditions of the country, the standards of a democratic country and the logic of the market economy. CCI - Tirana represents today an institution which combines the old national traditions with the modern experience of the European Chambers.
